STUDENT EXECUTIVE ELECTION INFORMATION


What makes being a Student Executive exciting?

Being part of the Student Executive is a great opportunity to connect with the students of Lethbridge Polytechnic and advocate on their behalf. As a student executive, you are the voice of the students and commonly connect with Lethbridge Polytechnic leadership to ensure the students at Lethbridge Polytechnic have their best interests represented. LPSA Executives work to administer the assets of the Association, as well as represent the Students’ Association on various committees throughout the year. At the same time, the summer months are used for training, planning, and making connections with student leaders across the country at conferences. This is where the fun happens!

 

What are the positions I can run for?

There are three LPSA Executive positions to open for the election: LPSA President, LPSA Vice President of Student Life, and LPSA Vice President Operations and Finance. Each position has different responsibilities (more details below). The positions are selected by election by the Lethbridge Polytechnic student body.

This position provides you with tangible workplace skills that will help build your resume. Student executives gain leadership skills, project management experience, networking and communication skills while being part of a positive work environment!

 

 

Hours required during summer months and during the academic year:

    Summer work hours, May – August: 20 hours per week

    Sept – April – 12 hours per week.

 

Qualifications for LPSA Executive: 

·        Be registered in credit(s) course at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

·        Be and remain in a minimum of half credit hours of full time status as determined by Lethbridge Polytechnic at the time of nomination and with the intent of continuing, in good standing, as a member of the LPSA.

·        All assessed Lethbridge Polytechnic and LPSA fees be in good standing.

·        Have at the time of nomination in the preceding term and all subsequent terms while in office, a term GPA of 2.0 or higher.

·        Sign & abide by the LPSA code of conduct.

 

 Roles and Responsibilities:


PRESIDENT

-          Attend LPSA and Polytechnic meetings

-          Official spokesperson for the students’ Council

-          Coordinates LPSA involvement in Lethbridge Polytechnic apprenticeship and student

orientations and other Polytechnic events

 

VICE PRESIDENT OPERATIONS & FINANCE

-          Club Council Chair

-          Oversees the ratified clubs on campus

-          In charge of Student Representative Advisory Committee

-          Administers payroll for council members

-          Assists the General Manager with the preparation of the budget

-          Attends LPSA and Polytechnic meetings

 

VICE PRESIDENT STUDENT LIFE

-          Awareness campaigns.

-          Wellness Wednesdays.

-          Student Appeals/issues.

-          Organize food drives for the LPSA Food Bank

-          Attends LPSA and College meetings
